Well, I am half way done with my individual preceptorship clinical time. I have been working in the ER at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. So far it has been pretty good. I have gotten lots of practice starting IVs. I have only missed one so far, I am pretty proud of myself. I have seen some interesting things. There was a girl that went off a jump while snowboarding and landed on her back so they life flighted her to the hospital. I got to see what happens when a trauma comes in, even though it was a small one. We had a guy come in from the jail who was withdrawing from heroin and tried to kill himself with a shaving razor. He cut his neck and his wrist, but of course, a shaving razor won't do much damage. There are some people that come in for some really dumb things like a headache or a tooth ache. Then you have the parents who drag their kid in a like midnight because they have a fever or have been coughing. Some people...
Jerry and I went down to Provo yesterday to run some errands and do our Costco shopping and decided we would stop by Circuit City to see if their prices had come down at all. They are going out of business so all of their inventory is clearanced and has to be sold. We had talked about getting a nice TV with our tax returns, but weren't really sure that is what we were going to do. We walk through the TVs and see none of them have come down in price any from the last time we had looked. Jerry finds the Sims games he plays on the computer and is trying to decide between two. We are wandering around the store while he is trying to decide and come to the middle of the store where they have the TVs all boxed up. We see a Sony 46 inch that has a price tag of like $800. Right off the bat, we know there is something wrong. I go and find a sales person and ask him and of course, it was put on the wrong item. Well, Jerry finds a 40 inch Sony that is on sale for $1000, which is about $400 off. As, you probably guess, we ended up coming home with a new TV. Jerry is loving it. He even figured out he could hook the laptop up to it. And he says I never let him have any fun:)

Uncertainty
After much waiting and anticipation, we finally found out on the job that Jerry applied for. They finally emailed last night and the answer was thanks for applying but we are going to go with someone else. Jerry was kind of bummed, and I was sad that he was disappointed, but to be honest, I was also relieved because I didn't want him to be gone. To be completely honest, we don't know what we are going to do or where we are supposed to be. All we know is that we want to move away from Utah and the families so we can be more on our own.
I started clinical on Wednesday night, and stayed up all night! The shift was 5-5, and I can tell you 12 hours is a long time. I did enjoy it and it went by pretty quickly. We were really busy, hardly sitting down the first 4 hours. I got some good experience. I put in a couple of catheters and started 2 IVs, one on my nurse and one on a patient. 1 down, 7 to go. Staying up all night definitely messes up your sleeping patterns, though. Luckily I only have to do one more 5-5 shift. I definitely looking forward to a whole week off for Spring Break!!

Catch up time!
Sorry it has been a little while since I was last on here. So here we go. I passed my final and ended up with a B+ for the semester, not too bad if I do say so myself:) The holidays were good. Jerry and I inn keep at the Blue Boar Inn in Midway and as luck would have it we had to in keep on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. That kept us in town for Christmas. My Mom had to work on Christmas Eve so Jerry and I took my sisters and we all went and ate at the Blue Boar, my Mom's treat. It was kind of weird because the Blue Boar is considered fine dining and we are definitely not used to that! We didn't know what half the stuff on the menu was! But we all managed to find something we liked. After dinner, we went a picked up Jerry's parents to go look at Christmas lights around town. We dropped the girls off and then headed back to the inn. Christmas morning we woke up to find about a foot of snow on the ground, and it was still snowing! For as long as I can remember, we have gone out to Grantsville and Tooele to see my parents' families. Well, as you can imagine, all the snow cancelled those plans. It was seriously like a blizzard. We all got to talk to my brother Ryan, which was great. He comes home in September! We had Christmas with my Mom and the girls and also with Jerry's parents. I felt really bad because we didn't get to see my Dad. There was just no way to do it. He lives in Park City and he wouldn't have let us come anyways. We attempted to go over to my Mom's for prime rib Christmas Dinner, but got stuck on the street that goes to her condo. That was an adventure. You would think with all the snow we get in Heber the county would be better at snow removal. Truth be told, they suck at it. But, all in all it was a good Christmas. We spent the Friday after Christmas with Jerry's sister and her boy and two girls. It is always good to see them.
New Year's Eve and New Year's Day we had to inn keep as well, so once again, we just stayed around town. The Blue Boar always has a big New Year's Party so we were up late with all the noise. Jerry was sweet and helped the waitstaff clean up after everyone left. I was a bum and fell asleep at around 1. I just can't stay up like I used to!
The semester has started again. The first half will be busy trying to get all my independent clinical hours in. I have to do a total of 96 hours by March 3. I will be doing quite a few night shifts, which should be interesting. I get to work in the ER so I am excited about that. There always seems to be so much to do in so little time!
Perhaps the biggest news is Jerry has applied for a job at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington. It is exciting and scary at the same time. We are wanting to move to Washington so this is a good opportunity. Hopefully if he gets it we will get discounted tuition. We would have to pay out of state, which costs an arm and a leg! The downside is the job starts on February 1, so he would leave and I would have to stay to finish school. I don't know how I would manage not seeing him everyday! It has been a long time since I have slept alone and I don't think I would enjoy it! As you can imagine, this is an exciting, yet scary time for us!

3 down, 1 to go!
Today was my final so I am officially done with the semester! Yay for me! 3 semesters down, 1 more to go. I can't believe how fast it has gone. It's weird to think that in 6 more months I will be completely done with school and start working like a regular person. Kind of scary...
It has dumped snow on us for the last two days. It is pretty, but I hate driving in it. I really don't like that Jerry had to drive in it everyday to get to Park City. I am really looking forward to Christmas and no school.
Haley had her school Christmas party last night out at the Soldier Hollow Golf Course clubhouse. They had soup and a silent auction to help a family who has a little boy with bone cancer. There were way too many people there for the size of the facility. It was pretty annoying. We waited in line for 15 minutes just to get some food. The school kids did a program that looked like they had just decided to do it that very night. It was not very organized at all. One of my mom's friends that just had a baby was there so I got to hold her. She was super cute. A few people asked if she was mine. I just smiled and said no. Simmer down people, our time will come:)

Funny and not so funny story
My birthday has come and gone and I am now a year older. 24, can you believe it. I can remember when I was little thinking 16 was old! My brothers like to tease me but they are almost 23 and almost 21, so they aren't too far behind. I spent the day (that is from about 11-5:30, because Jerry is sweet and told me to stay in bed) working on the second of my two papers that I had to get done. It was good because I had the house to myself with limited distractions (I always seem to find something to distract myself when I am doing something I don't want to) and I was able to get a good portion of it done. If someone would have told me when I started college I would be writing 30+ page papers, I would have laughed in their face. I remember at the beginning of college when 3 was a stretch. Funny how things change. Now the only thing left for the semester is my final! I don't think it will be too bad.
Jerry and I got our Christmas tree on Saturday. It is pretty much the coolest ever. It is about 8 feet tall and the perfect shape. So the guy ties it on the car for us and we are ready to be on our way. Before we go, Jerry starts looking in his pockets and the car for his phone. He can't find it so I call it, but we don't hear anything. This is where it gets good. Jerry had gone hiking with his dad early that day and when he came home, he put his jeans in the dirty clothes. Well, I happen to be doing laundry that day so I throw them in and think nothing of it. Well, all of a sudden Jerry is like I think I left it in my pants. I tell him I really hope not because at this point they have gone for a cycle in the washing machine. We get home and I open the washer and sure enough, the phone is vibrating like crazy in his pants pocket. Jerry is stressing out because it was a nice phone, one of those $300 touch screen ones and we are in between pay checks so we don't really have money to go buy a new one. So we pack up my little sister Haley and drag her down to Orem with us to get him a new phone. This story does end on a good not, I promise. So we get down there and all signed in and the guy pulls up the account and luckily Jerry had an upgrade. So he ends up getting a Blackberry, which are not very user friendly. Now he is trying to learn how to work the dumb thing!
I guess winter is finally deciding to come to Utah. It is supposed to dump snow on us on Saturday. They are saying 6 inches in Salt Lake, which means about a foot of snow in Heber. Can I just say how much I dislike snow. But, if is going to be cold it might as well snow, as long as I don't have to drive in it. I am trying to talk Jerry into going somewhere it is always warm. So far, no luck, but I will keep trying. I am so over winter!

I hate finals
I figured it's time to write a little bit more, so here we go. Jerry and I inn keep at the Blue Boar Inn in Midway so we stuck around Heber for Thanksgiving, but it was good to be with family. Jerry and I went to my dad's for breakfast with my sisters Maddy and Haley. It was yummy. Sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns, and toast, all the wonderful things that will clog your arteries. It was nice to spend time with my dad because we don't see him a whole lot. Then we came home and Jerry and his dad put up the lights on the house. I was kind of nervous about that because we now have a metal roof so Jerry couldn't climb on it, but they were able to use a ladder and a pole to put the lights on the hooks so no one ended up in the emergency room. Thank goodness!! While they were outside playing I was inside making pie (OK, so I cheated and bought the Marie Callendar kind you defrost and bake, but I did make a French Silk pie the night before), 7 layer bean dip, and another bean dish. We went to my mom's for dinner and there was tons of food! I don't think half of it got eaten, but we had yummy leftovers! My brother was there and Jerry's parents came so it was a regular little party. Good food and good people, what more can you ask for, right?
The semester is winding down and I of course have procrastinated writing my papers. I have been frantically writing. One down , one more to go. My final is on the 16th and of course the teachers gave us another project that is due next week. How lame, next week is supposed to be study time. I am definitely looking forward to Christmas break.
Jerry and I are going to get our tree today. He has an insured who owns a landscaping business and his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer so we are going to get our tree from them. It's our way of being able to support them he told me. We bough one on sale at Walmart last year after Christmas and we went to put it up and it is pretty pathetic. It was only $10 dollars so I guess you get what you pay for (and I personally think Walmart stuff is cheap, sorry not a Walmart fan). I am excited to have a real tree again, they are my favorite.
I had a meeting with the bishop on Wednesday night so I now have another calling. It is ward sports specialist or something like that. Basically I am in charge of letting people in the ward know when the stake has scheduled sports like basketball, volleyball, and softball. Sounds pretty easy, which is good because I don't have a whole lot of extra time!
My birthday is on Monday and I will be 24. I feel so old, hahaha. My best friend is supposed to be coming up tomorrow, but who knows. She is funny like that. I think my mom is getting tickets to Wicked for me, and that makes me really excited. I have always wanted to see Wicked. I don't know what Jerry has planned, he is pretty good at keeping surprises from me. I had no idea where we were going for our honeymoon and he planned our 1st anniversary in secret too. He is so sweet:)
Our ward Christmas party was last night. I volunteered to cook some food so Jerry took that opportunity to have his scouts come and do it to help with a cooking merit badge. So they got their first experience making funeral potatoes. Yes, I know, typical Mormon party food. They did pretty good for 11 year -olds. I didn't have to do anything. They even did the dishes, took out the trash, and wiped off the counter. The party was good. The primary kids sang a couple of Christmas songs, someone read the "Twas the Night Before Christmas," and of course the bishop had something to say. We had ham, rolls, and funeral potatoes. I was good to socialize a little bit. The only thing that could have been better was a Santa. You can't have a Christmas party without Santa!

Here goes nothin'
Well, my friend Lindsey said I should put one of these things together and I had been wanting to, so I guess she just gave me that little push I needed. I figure I have done the Myspace and Facebook thing so this is logically the next step. Hopefully y'all will enjoy it. I guess I will start out with the basics. Jerry and I met playing volleyball one night after a Single's Ward Family Home Evening. He pretty much fell for me (yes, I am being literal when I say that). I had some pretty good bruises (I still like to tease him about it). That was February of last year. We went on our first date the end of that month and I guess you could say the rest was history. We got married November 8, 2007, in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple. Right now, we are just trying to figure out what and where we should be. Jerry works for American Family Insurance in Park City, and I work and go to Utah Valley University where I will graduate from the nursing program in May. One more semester!!!! We stay pretty busy with work and school, and I guess some people would say we are kind of boring, but we have a good time so we don't care! I teach the Sunbeams and Jerry is the 11 year old primary class/scout leader. We both enjoy Primary, that is most days. We are house sitting for Jerry's grandma, who goes to Arizona for the winter, so we have a whole house to ourselves. So, anytime you want to come visit, give us a call!
